Opal Etherton

	Opal Etherton, 81, DuQuoin, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2001 at 2:10 a.m. at Magnolia Manor in Metropolis.
	Opal worked in the clothing factory, was manager of the Elks Country Club and worked as a coal miner at Consol #5.  She was a member of First Christian Church and the UMWA.
	She was born January 19, 1920 at Elkville, the daughter of Mark and Hattie (Russell) Ford.  She married Hubert Etherton in 1949 in Mississippi and he preceded her in death in 1972.
	Surviving are two sons, Mike Wilson and wife Bonnie of DuQuoin and Jack Etherton and wife LaDonna of Metropolis; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
	She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, James, Mark and Russel and four sisters, Ella, Molly, Bertha and Hester.
	Private family services were held Saturday, January 5 at 11 a.m. at Neal-McClure Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Lewis officiating.  Interment was in Hallidayboro Cemetery.
